This approach to adjustable shelving (the use of a 'ladder' and bars) in
a bookcase goes back through many generations of European furniture makers. The design is inspired by classical architectural
elements found in Italian villas to the north of Milan towards Lake Como. Thus we christened it - The Milano
It is under-painted in Craig & Rose colours Oriental Red and Rich Gold
followed by Lido Blue over-painting which has been dark waxed and polished.
The hand stencilling is Rose Pink, Wedgwood Lilac and Camisole Pink onto Fresh Plaster background.
The entire piece was lightly distressed with clear wax applied overall and then polished.
This bookcase is 2.30 metres high, 1.80 metres wide and 0.37 metres deep. It
will accommodate books of any height and up to 27 centimetres deep. The bookcase can be made in any size and colour to
your requirements.
