The Aquitaine dresser
Traditionally, the base or cabinet part of a two part dresser was commissioned
by the parent of a bride. The onus was then on the new groom to build the upper element or shelving section. The quality of
his work being on view for all to see.
This dresser (groom free) is largely built from re-cycled timbers with an oiled solid oak work
top. There are two pairs of adjustable shelves inside each of the cupboards.
This example is painted in Craig & Rose colours Kashmir Beige over-painted with Arabian
Red. The stencilling is Kashmir Beige and Pale Oak onto Deep Sung Cream. The interior is painted in Rose Pink. Dark waxed
and distressed, then finally clear waxed and polished
This example is 2.20 metres high, 1.70 metres wide and 0.50 metres deep. It can be made in different
configurations of drawers and cupboards and in different sizes and colours.
